ExxonMobil and INNIO deliver benefits and power suppliers
Since its launch, Jenbacher N Oil 40 has been widely adopted across INNIO’s Jenbacher natural gas engine fleet. Extensive field validation proves that the lubricant can extend oil drain intervals by as much as two times.

ExxonMobil and INNIO sign a long-term extension of their global lubricant's collaboration agreement for INNIO’s Jenbacher* Type 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 natural gas engines. The agreement marks the extension of a decades-long working relationship to co-engineer high-performance gas engine lubrication.
Mobil Lubricants Teams - #StillByYourSide
The COVID-19 outbreak is having a profound impact on all our lives.
As always, the health and safety of our teams, families, partners and customers is paramount. Here at ExxonMobil we are closely monitoring the situation and adjusting operations to help keep the world moving.
Our teams may now be working remotely, but we are still by your side, and we are ready to support you with whatever you need at this unpredictable time.
New Mobil Pegasus™ 610 Ultra developed for use with aggressive gases
ExxonMobil has launched Mobil Pegasus™ 610 Ultra, a high performance lubricant for use in gas engines operating on fuel that contains corrosive materials such as hydrogen sulphide and halogens.
Fuel such as landfill and biogases often include high levels of hydrogen sulphide, which can significantly limit the oil drain intervals of gas engine lubricants. They can also contain siloxanes, which can considerably increase wear and reduce engine component life.
In addition, biogas produced from agricultural waste can create specific challenges. The chemical agents used to protect crops can result in the presence of nitrous oxide, which can require an increased feed rate to maintain output. This, in turn, places greater stresses on engine components and could lead to cracked pistons.
Fortunately, the use of high performance lubricants can help protect gas engine components against gas-related corrosion, helping to improve efficiency and protect productivity.
The new Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra is specifically developed to withstand the effects of these aggressive gases by neutralising acids and offsetting their negative effects on engine components (cylinder liner, piston head and crown and valve train) with less need for decoking. Combined with excellent oxidation stability, it helps extend oil drain intervals, reduce unscheduled maintenance costs and increase overall engine operations.
Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra was developed side-by-side with Infinis, one of the UK’s largest renewable power generators to deliver improved engine reliability, increase run hours and extend engine oil life. Based on these developments and potential performance improvements, Infinis has now switched over 10 of its power generation sites to Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra.
Mobil Pegasus™ 1107 approved for Jenbacher 2, 3, 4 and 6 series natural gas-fuelled engines
Formulated to meet the needs of next generation engines, Mobil Pegasus™ 1107 is approved for use in all Jenbacher 2, 3, 4 and 6 series natural gas-fuelled engines.
TI 1000-1109 carries both the “Extended Drain” capability flag as well as catalyst approval.
Mobil Pegasus 1107 also received official approval from Caterpillar Energy Solutions for the use in their MWM TCG and CATERPILLAR CG gas engines and for MTU’s Gas Engines Series 400 (all engines with natural gas and propane gas).
This further demonstrates OEMs’ confidence in ExxonMobil’s solutions for future gas engines.
Mobil Pegasus 1107 offers operators of high severity natural gas engines benefits including:
- extended oil drain intervals
- superior varnish and deposit control
- excellent oxidation and thermal stability
- outstanding anti-wear characteristics
A view from the engineering frontline
Being a member of ExxonMobil’s Field Engineering Services (FES) team is never dull, according to Huseyin Hacikadiroglu. “There is no such thing as an average day for a field engineer,” he explains.
“We know customers face unique challenges, especially with engines running on biogas. It’s our job to understand their machinery better than they do.
“Fortunately, we draw upon extensive expertise and as a result we can provide solutions in a surprisingly short timeframe” adds Hermann Kerzendorf.
“You should think of us as an extension of your own business. We can help identify lubrication solutions to meet your specific needs, creating value for your business.”
Sustainable performance from ExxonMobil
Renewable power generator, Infinis, monitors the sustainability performance of its suppliers across three categories: Economic, Environmental and Social. It uses the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Sustainability Index (CIPS) to rate companies – 100 being the top score.
ExxonMobil is a leading performer amongst Infinis’ supplier portfolio, registering 100 from both its Economic and Environmental performance and 94 for its Social rating.
