Mobilgear™ 600 XP 320 helps DP World Sokhna extend oil drain intervals by more than 100%*

Situation

DP World Sokhna lubricates the Flender gearboxes in its quay crane, rubber-tired gantry and mobile harbour crane with Mobilgear™ 600 XP 320 gear oil. The company-maintained oil drain intervals of 12 months in some gearboxes and 18 months in others based on the equipment builder recommendation. One of the key objectives of DP World Sokhna engineering team is to reduce the man-machine interface in general and especially in locations similar to subject gearboxes while simultaneously reducing operating costs and increasing equipment availability. 

Recommendation

DP World Sokhna engineering team worked with ExxonMobil field engineering team, to identify optimal oil drain intervals for its gearboxes. After conducting Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis (MSLA), ExxonMobil engineers recommended the continued use of Mobilgear™ 600 XP 320 while extending its oil drain intervals. DPW Sokhna Engineers and ExxonMobil Field engineers also recommended the continued utilization of MSLA℠ in order to continuously monitor oil life and equipment performance achieving the results mentioned in the section below.
