Hear from our customers

  • Application - Our customer was experiencing micro-pitting in the gearboxes of its cream separators and an oil drain of just 900 hours using a mineral gear oil. After switching to Mobil SHC™ 632, the team reported a significant reduction in wear and unscheduled maintenance, and an oil drain interval of more than 4,000 hours. The change resulted in an annual saving of €3,500.

  • Our customer has four gear boxes inserted in the scrap supply lines in its cast steel furnace. Mobil SHC 629 was offered as an alternative to its current lubricant. Combined with a range of technical services, all four gear boxes were switched over to the Mobil lubricant (4,200litres).

    Steel Industry, Italy

  • Thermographic inspection at a corrugating plant revealed that some of its gearboxes lubricated with a mineral gear oil were operating at 96°C. Oil drain intervals were also just a year. The customer switched to Mobil SHC™ 630, which helped reduce the temperature by 12°C and extended oil drain intervals by up to six times.

*Energy efficiency relates solely to the fluid performance when compared to conventional (mineral) reference oils of the same viscosity grade in gear applications. The technology used allows up to 3.6% efficiency compared to Mobilgear 600 XP 460 when tested in a worm gearbox under controlled conditions and may not be achieved under other circumstances. Efficiency improvements will vary based on operating conditions and application.
